Care That Treats Teens Like the People They're Becoming

The teenage years can be a strange middle ground — too old for a pediatrician, but not quite ready to be an adult patient. Adolescent medicine is a particular passion at Right Care, and Right Care is built to be the kind of practice that meets teens where they actually are: with privacy, respect, real conversations with parents brought in at the right time.

What Adolescent Care Looks Like Here

Privacy, Respect, and the Right Amount of Parent

Adolescent visits at Right Care are designed to do two things at once: provide thorough medical care and help teens build the habit of advocating for their own health. Here’s how that usually works:

The Doctor Teens Actually Want to Come Back To for the Whole Family.

Adolescents are at the most teachable moment of their lives. The habits they build now — around sleep, nutrition, mental health, sexual health, substance use, and how they advocate for themselves during doctor visits — will follow them into adulthood. Our providers treat these visits as the high value encounters they are: unhurried, respectful, and direct.

We talk to teens like adults-in-progress. We answer their questions honestly. And we work with parents to support what their teen is going through — without ever undermining the trust the teen needs to feel in the room.

For Parents & Teens

What's the youngest age you see?

We see adolescents starting at age 10. This is a common starting age for adolescent-focused family medicine. Old enough that we can begin building the kind of relationship that supports the teen years, young enough that we can be there from the very beginning of them.

Some parts of the visit are confidential by design. North Carolina law allows minors to consent to certain types of care without parental notification — particularly around mental health, reproductive health, and substance use. We’ll explain those rules clearly to both you and your teen, and we’ll always encourage open conversation between teens and their parents.

We don’t do walk-ins, but we make every effort to fit sports physicals in quickly — particularly during back-to-school season. Call us as soon as you have your form and we’ll get you in promptly.
